PILATES
Pilates is a method of physical movement, designed to stretch, strengthen and balance the body. It has been initially developed by Joseph Pilates in the early to mid 20th C. Later teachers have modified and added to the moves using Pilates principals so they might be used for particular outcomes and to maintain safety.
Attention to correct alignment, stability and breathing through the range of movement is fundamental. For most students the correct use of spinal, abdominal and pelvic floor muscles (what Joseph Pilates called the core) is most challenging to learn, personal sessions are very useful till this is mastered.

There are 34 original movements.
If practiced faithfully, Pilates exercises will:
Improve body posture, balance and coordination
Develop long, lean, strong muscles
Increase flexibility and agility
Develop optimal core strength and stability
Encourage healthy breathing, increase lung capacity and improve circulation
